Bio

He is a graduate of the careers of Guitar and of Arrangements and Composition of the Technological Institute of Contemporary Music (ITMC). There where he studied with musicians like Luis Salinas, Carlos Campos, Beto Calletti, Marcelo Braga and Juan "Pollo" Raffo. He also studied privately with guitarist Pino Marrone and studied composition with Laura Baade and Federico Wiman.

In 2005 he formed a duo with the double bass player Gabriel Domenicucci with whom he released the album "Ni una sombra" (PAI Records). He also joined the group of singer and songwriter Catalina Vin, with whom he has recorded the albums "Genuine" (2009) and "Hypersensitive" (2011), both produced by Juan Stewart. In 2011 he recorded the album "Minimum Project" by Gabriel Domenicucci. The group also had the presence of Sergio Wagner, Andrés Elstein, Leo Álvarez and Jesús Fernández. In 2013 he joined the Genetics group as a guitarist (a group that pays homage to the early days of Genesis), with whom he currently tours in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. The band gave a series of concerts together with Steve Hackett (original guitarist for Genesis) at the Teatro Coliseo in Buenos Aires in 2015.
In addition to his rock career, Leo is one of the most active guitarists on the jazz scene. He has played with musicians such as Lucio Balduini, Enrique Norris, Juan Bayón , Rodrigo Reparaz, Esteban Sehinkman and Sergio Wagner, among others.

As a soloist, Leo leads his own quartet consisting of Martin Lambert, Leo Paganini and Diego Goldszein and with whom he has just released his album "Desvelo".
Fernández has also been working intensively as a guitar teacher for 20 years and has trained dozens of musicians.
