CHRISTY DORAN

He was born in Dublin (Ireland) and since childhood has lived in Lucerne (Switzerland). In 1970 he founded the influential Swiss band OM together with Fredy Studer, Urs Leimgruber and Bobby Burri. Over the years he has given many solo concerts, in which he regularly demands the limits of what can be played with a single guitar. He has also given duo concerts with Marty Ehrlich, Dom Um Romao, Ray Anderson and Fritz Hauser, among others. After playing in a trio with Jasper Van't Hof, Doran formed the group "Christy Doran's May 84", a septet with Norma Winstone, Trilok Gurtu, Urs Leimgruber, Rosko Gee, Dom Um Romao and Dave Doran. He was part of the "Peter Warren Quartet" along with Victor Lewis and John Surman, also integrated "RED TWIST & TUNED ARROW ”with Stephan Wittwer and Fredy Studer (1985-1987). Christy Doran was also co-founder of the project “Doran / Studer / Burri / Magnenat” (later “Doran / Studer / Gerber / Magnenat”) and was part of the quartet of Bobby Previte, Mark Helias and Gary Thomas. He played in a trio with Marilyn Mazur and Kim Clarke. Other participations include works with Carla Bley, Albert Mangelsdorff, Edvard Vesala, Charlie Mariano, Manfred Schoof, Iréne Schweizer, Wolfgang Dauner, Fernando Sounders, Julio Barreto, Sonny Sharrock, Keven Bruce Harris, Eberthard Weber, Chico Freeman, Evan Parker, among others. Doran has been on tour in Europe, North and South Africa, India, the Caribbean, Mexico, the United States and Canada, Scandinavia,
1993 Doran, together with Fredy Studer, started the project "DORAN / STUDER / MINTON / BATES & ALI play the music of JIMI HENDRIX". 1994 Django Bates was replaced by cellist Tom Cora. 1995/96 the band plays in a quartet with Phil Minton, Amin Ali, Fredy Studer and Christy Doran. Tours in Europe, Scandinavia, the United States and Canada. 1993 - 2000 Doran played with the American flutist Robert Dick and English drummer Steve Argüelles on a project called ADD Trio. There is also a long collaboration between Doran and percussionist Reto Weber. 1994 Studer and Doran reactivate the "double-bass quartet" with Jean-Francois, Jenny-Clark (double bass / Paris) and Jamaaladeen Tacuma (electric bass / Philadelphia).
1997 Doran founds his own project: "Christy Doran's NEW BAG" with Bruno Amstad on vocals, Fabian Kuratli on drums and Wolfgang Zwiauer on electric bass. 2001 Hans Peter- Pfammatter (keyboards) joins the group. Dominik Burkhalter replaced Fabian Kuratli who unfortunately died in 2008. In 2011 he makes a fresh start with Vincent Membrez on minimoog replacing W. Zwiauer. Currently, the new NEW BAG is made up of Sarah Buechi on vocals, Vincent Membrez on minimoog and rhodes, Lionel Friedli on drums and Chirsty Doran. Other current projects by Chirsty Doran in addition to "New Bag" are Christy Doran's "BUNTER HUND" (with Patricia Draeger on accordion, Christian Weber on double bass and Lionel Friedli on drums. DORAN-STUCKY-STUDER & TACUMA play the music of Jimi Hendrix ”and the updated“ Hendrix Band ”where singer Erika Stucky joins. Also “XL-TARGET feat. Joe Bowie ”with his brother Dave Doran on drums and samples, and Joseph Bowie on trombone and vocals. On the other hand, he has a collaboration with the Chinese artist Yang Jing, who executes the Pipe. He is also a member of the new trio DORAN-KAENZIG-HEMINGWAY and of “Katja Mair´s KAAMA”. A new project was born in 2015 with the Argentine bassist Franco Fontanarrosa and the Swiss drummer Lukas Mantel, “Chirsty Doran´s SOUND FOUNTAIN” Christy Doran played on more than 60 recordings and teaches in the jazz department of “Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts ”. FRANCO FONTANARROSA

He was born on April 18, 1983 in Rosario, Argentina. Son of the great Argentine humorist and writer Roberto Fontanarrosa, Franco was exposed to art, observation and the habit of creation from his childhood.
At the age of 11 he started playing the electric bass. At the age of 17 he formed the group “Fuga de Cerebros” together with the pianist Paula Shocrón and Alexis Perepelycia on drums. This group received great attention within the jazz scene in Rosario and Franco was chosen as a revelation musician at the city's Jazz festival in 2001. At the age of 20 he traveled to live in Buenos Aires, the city where he lived until today, where he has been part of various projects such as "Captains of Industry", "Datrebil", "Panza", "Axes", "Resistencia Chaco", "Orquesta Ruido Negro", "Temporal", "Andrea Alvarez Trío ", among others.
Franco worked and has participated in various projects together with the actor, comedian and musician Mex Urtizberea, with whom he recorded albums, worked within the cast of two plays and was a stable musician for a live band on the television programs "Mañana Vemos" , "Dormevú Laboratories" and "La Kermex". In these programs he accompanied musicians such as Hugo and Osvaldo Fattoruso, Lenine, Liliana Herrero, Rodolfo Mederos, Luis Salinas, Rubén Rada and others.
In addition to his work with Urtizberea, Franco has composed music for plays, short films, institutional music for television and has even participated in the role of musician in a play inspired by texts by his father. He is also dedicated to making animations in "stop motion"
Franco is part of the free improvisation and performance duo “Niño Envgido” together with Alexis Perepelycia (drums and electronics). With this duo they won two grants, one from the National Endowment for the Arts (Argentina) and the other from the Ministry of Innovation and Culture of the province of Santa Fe (Argentina) to film an experimental feature film entitled “Ajendra” which was written and directed by the duo.
In 2005 Franco put together his own project called “La Mujer Barbuda”, currently composed of Martín Pantyrer (baritone sax and clarón), Nicolás “Mu” Sánchez (electric guitar), Lulo Isod (drums) and Franco Fontanarrosa in bass and composition . With La Mujer Barbuda they have recorded two albums, the second one released by the Sony label, and have been described by the press as one of the freshest and most innovative musical realities on the Argentine national scene. In addition to having been chosen as a revelation group for their debut album, in a survey of Argentine journalists by the website “El Intruso”.
Now, in 2015, Franco is starting a new international project with Christy Doran and Lukas Mantel, both musicians living in Switzerland. The project is called "Christy Doran's SOUND FOUNTAIN".
Throughout his career Franco Fontanarrosa has recorded on around 20 albums and has played with musicians such as David Fiuczynski, Vincent Membrez, Lionel Friedli, Akira Nakamura, Enrique Norris, Paula Shocrón, Santiago Vázquez, Wenchi Lazo, Lucio Balduini, Carto Brandán , Bárbara Togander, Juan Pablo Hernández, Fernando Kabusacki, Jota Morelli, Franco Luciani and La Bomba de Tiempo, among others.

LUKAS MANTEL

He has won a grant from the Friedl-Wald 2008
foundation . He started playing the piano at age 8, was a DJ in a Hip Hop group, made experimental electronic music and dedicated himself to studying drums at age 16. Lukas Mantel gained experience and musical character playing very different genres of Punk, Jazz and improvised music up to orchestral contexts. In addition to its role as tempo guard, the choice of sound and texture is always an essential contribution to the projects in which it is involved.
